Welcome to my website

My name is Matthias Krug and I have been active in finance and management accounting for more than 20 years.

Since 2004 I am a freelancer and interim manager for finance topics. So you can rest assured that I am confident in what I do and that I like the project framework of my activities.

I have a degree in industrial engineering and management and my project experience covers everything from medium sized businesses to DAX 30 companies.

One of my first professional experiences was investment manager for an early-stage VC fund, so I also have experience with technology-based start-up companies.

Focus on processes, data and data structures

My projects cover a wide range of topics, although they are usually based in the finance function. After some projects in group controlling and investment controlling, I was also active in sales controlling, business unit management and accounting-related topics.

My activities are usually quite close to the software architecture of my clients. Quite often I am involved in the design, automation or implementation of reports, the migration or adjustment of data structures.

Quick start and structured exit

As an experienced management accountant, you don’t have to worry about your v-lookups or specialized reports that have evolved over time.

In case of operative problems, I will intervene when necessary and will take decisive action if that is what the situation calls for.

Nevertheless, I will try my best to be the colleague you wish you had in your team.

I like being a freelancer and I have grown very fond of the freedom of being an interim manager, so my deployment will be limited to the project we discussed.

Finance & Controlling generalist with a focus on pharma and renewable energy

Focus on efficient transition and effective operations

I usually focus on the data structures more than the group dynamic structures, and in case of need I will make sure the coffee supply and the respective machine are in shape (Don’t forget I am a German engineer…).

Project experience from DAX 30 companies to start-ups

Most of my projects have been in the pharma and the energy sector, with a focus on renewable energy. Apart from that, I also have some experience with automotive, chemical and telecommunications.
